If you have not dived in the last year then you might need to take a PADI Scuba-Tune Up before you can enroll in our PADI Advanced Open Water Course. This takes half a day, so make sure you leave time for it, or better yet, send us an email and check what we can do - it's your holiday and so we are flexible!

We’ve got an action packed course for you where the focus is to develop your all round diving environment, rather than focusing on scuba skills that were taught during the Open Water Course. These take place over 5 dives, 2 of which are mandatory, while the other 3 are your choice, although there seem to be a few favourites, which are shown in the sample schedule below. The mandatory dives are the Navigation Dive and the Deep Dive. From there there is a choice of the following;

  • Peak Performance Buoyancy
  • Fish Identification Dive
  • Computer Dive
  • Underwater Photography Dive
  • Wreck Diving
  • Enriched Air Nitrox Dive
  • Underwater Naturalist Dive
  • Drift Dive
  • Night Diving
  • DPV Dive
  • Search & Recovery Dive
  • Boat Dive

New Way Diving offer a maximum group size of 4 students to 1 of our experienced instructors, assuring that each student receives ample attention, allowing them to qualify as a more than competent diver while have great, safe fun! If smaller instruction is desired, please request on the email and we are happy to arrange!

The Schedule

The New Way Advanced Open Water Diver Course is designed to be flexible, and we offer it as such. However, in our 20+ years of experience we have found the below to be the most suitable, and how we usually run it;

Day 1 10:00 - 10:45 Course Orientation & Paperwork
  11:45 - 17:00 Peak Performance Buoyancy & Navigation Dive
  18:30 - 20:00 Night Dive
Day 2 06:00 - 10:30 Deep Dive & Wreck Dive

Please read below to see information regarding each of these dives;

Deep Dive

During this mandatory dive your instructor brief you about safety considerations that come into play with increased depth. They will take you to a depth of 30m and conduct a test to see if you are suffering from Nitrogen Narcosis - an effect similar to being drunk that arises from depth.

During this mandatory dive your instructor will brief you on various ways of navigating using both a compass and various natural techniques. You will then conduct a dive where you will navigate various shapes and negotiate distances with fin kicks and time.

What's Next

The Advanced Open Water Diver License certifies you to dive around the world with any other certified diver to a depth of 30m.  After having achieved this qualification there are a few routes to continue. Firstly, you may decide to continue Fun Diving with us. All ex-students receive a discounted rate on all continuing dives that they do with us, as a way of us saying thanks! Secondly, you may decide to continue learning more about each of the subjects you covered in the Advanced course by enrolling in the corresponding Specialty Diver Course. This will give you additional dives in the same environment you chose. For example, and the most popular, the Deep Diver Specialty, which certifies you to 40m, the Wreck Diver Specialty, which allows you explore the inside of wrecks, and Enriched Air Nitrox, which allows you to dive on Nitrox all over the world and extend your dive times. Finally, many people decide to continue their Diver training with the PADI Rescue Diver Course. With both of these last two options, we also like to say thanks for completing the Open Water Diver Course with us, and offer 10% Discount from this course.
