PADI-Night-Dive-Koh-TaoThe PADI Advanced Course is the next step from Open Water Diver, and with New Way Diving we have catered the best dives to the environment surrounding the waters of Koh Tao. The course takes place over 2 days and includes 5 Dives. It will depend on which day you start as to which order your Adventure Dives take place.

If you have not dived in the last year then you might need to take a PADI Scuba-Tune Up before you can enroll in our PADI Advanced Open Water Course. This takes half a day, so make sure you leave time for it, or better yet, send us an email and check what we can do - it's your holiday and so we are flexible!

We’ve got an action packed course for you where the focus is to develop your all round diving environment, rather than focusing on scuba skills that were taught during the Open Water Course. These take place over 5 dives, 2 of which are mandatory, while the other 3 are your choice, although there seem to be a few favourites, which are shown in the sample schedule below. The mandatory dives are the Navigation Dive and the Deep Dive. From there there is a choice of the following;
  • Peak Performance Buoyancy
  • Fish Identification Dive
  • Computer Dive
  • Underwater Photography Dive
  • Wreck Diving
  • Enriched Air Nitrox Dive
  • Underwater Naturalist Dive
  • Drift Dive
  • Night Diving
  • DPV Dive
  • Search & Recovery Dive
  • Boat Dive

New Way Diving offer a maximum group size of 4 students to 1 of our experienced instructors, assuring that each student receives ample attention, allowing them to qualify as a more than competent diver while have great, safe fun! If smaller instruction is desired, please request on the email and we are happy to arrange!

The Schedule

The New Way Advanced Open Water Diver Course is designed to be flexible, and we offer it as such. However, in our 20+ years of experience we have found the below to be the most suitable, and how we usually run it;

Day 1 10:00 - 10:45 Course Orientation & Paperwork
  11:45 - 17:00 Peak Performance Buoyancy & Navigation Dive
  18:30 - 20:00 Night Dive
Day 2 06:00 - 10:30 Deep Dive & Wreck Dive

Please read below to see information regarding each of these dives;

Deep Dive

advanced-courseDuring this mandatory dive your instructor brief you about safety considerations that come into play with increased depth. They will take you to a depth of 30m and conduct a test to see if you are suffering from Nitrogen Narcosis - an effect similar to being drunk that arises from depth.

During this mandatory dive your instructor will brief you on various ways of navigating using both a compass and various natural techniques. You will then conduct a dive where you will navigate various shapes and negotiate distances with fin kicks and time.

Peak Performance

This dive focuses on improving the hardest diving skill - Buoyancy. In this dive your instructor will have you playing a number of buoyancy games all of which focus on improving your underwater control, which ultimately reduces air-consumption.

Fish ID

advanced-diverDuring this dive we focus on the techniques used by all the pro's to establish what it is we are actually looking at, rather than filling our log books out with "Pretty Yellow Fish".

This dive focuses on giving you the additional information needed to use what is now the most common piece of diving equipment - a Dive Computer.

This dive is as it sounds - you will be taught a number of techniques to make your underwater photos look much more appealing.

Wreck Diving has an appeal for most divers, but there are a number of factors that need to be known to allow this to be done safely.

Nitrox-TanksPerhaps one of the most rewarding dives, this can even be done as the full specialty. We will teach the additional techniques and knowledge required to be able to dive with Nitrox, which increases the overall safety of diving, and allows you to extend the times you can spend at given depths.

While FISH ID Dive focuses on Fish, this dive finds relationships between underwater life. For instance, the little Goby Fish, which are seen in the sand with a shrimp in their hole. The shrimp is blind and creates shelter for the fish that keeps guard.

Drift diving is generally done in currents and requires a few additional techniques in order to be performed correctly.

Night Diving Koh TaoNight Diving is extremely popular since you get to experience the difference in the marine environment. Everything seen during the day goes to sleep, and instead the things rarely seen come out to play.

Rent a James Bond Scooter and learn how to control it and zip around the dive sites with minimal effort

S & R

Search and Recovery Diving requires an additional skill set in order to be done effectively, such as how to navigate effective search patterns and how to rig a weighted item to be lifted.

Boat Diving is the most common form of diving, and yet most people know none of the nautical terms which boats use.
