The New Way 2 month scuba diving internship package provides absolutely everything you need to train from beginner to PADI Divemaster; all scuba diving courses, PADI materials and certification costs and accommodation. The only fees not covered are those directly payable to PADI that are required to establish your professional recognition, which is roughly AU$300.

On a daily basis you’ll be exploring the coral reefs, pinnacles and wrecks around Koh Tao, while being given increased responsibility that is gained through increased hands on experience and having a great time along the way.

As an award winning PADI Diving Center, we offer professional training at the highest standards by the world's largest and longest established agency under the direct supervision of our experienced western instructors. We realize that each student is different, and often have different goals and time-frames in which to complete the dive internship, and as such, we make sure to cater each course to each individual.

You will begin your internship with a warm welcome and be introduced to your mentor, who will be involved with your training from the very start. They will get you to your room, and when ready, give you a brief tour of the area, our facilities, and take you out for a meal. When comfortable, and recovered from your travel, you will then begin the scuba diving courses.

This is the entry level scuba diving course for all individuals. This course will run through over a period of 3.5 days, and teaches you all the basic knowledge of how diving works and what you need to do to stay safe, while enjoying yourself as much as possible. It also covers all the scuba skills, very few of which change no matter which level of diver you become, and includes four open water dives around the beautiful reefs of Koh Tao, Thailand. Find out more information about our Open Water Course

The second course you take with us focuses on different diving environments. Over a period of 5 dives your scuba diving skills will receive minor improvements, and your scuba diving knowledge will be developed as you experience 5 specialized areas of diving. This includes a deep dive to a maximum depth of 30 meters, an underwater navigation dive, and much more

When ready, we will change agencies and focus more on PADI for the next two courses, starting with what many describe as the most developmental course, the PADI Emergency First Responder and Rescue Diver Course. Here the training steps up a gear during since the purpose of this course is to train you how to assist with people in trouble WITHOUT endangering yourself. This means that you will need to establish what your current capabilities are at this level, which is found from a number of fun and challenging Rescue Scenarios.

The PADI

DM Course

During this course you will develop expert knowledge on scuba diving theory, learn to perform skills to a demonstration level, which will then help you for the coming assists with students in training. You will also learn how to provide relevant Dive briefings in order to be able to lead certified divers around the beautiful reefs of Koh Tao, and will conduct a few sessions with Discover Scuba Divers – aka Try Dives. As part of your Divemaster internship with us, you will receive a certification upon completion, if there's time permitting, that will also allow you to teach these try dives at a ratio of 2 students to 1 guide, which can often be a little more lucrative than leading divers and makes you far more employable upon course completion.

The New Way Divemaster Internship includes 2 months accommodation. This is in one of the many long term locations that we partner with, and where many of our interns choose to stay. However, what is often common is that Divemaster Trainees group together to get a larger house with kitchen facilities etc, which is no issue, simply let us know when you are here!

If you are already a certified diver then please let us know. We’ll be able to give you full credit for whatever dive training you already have.
Just let us know by submitting the following form and we’ll send you a customized package.

What Else?

The New Way Divemaster Internship includes all equipment rentals for the duration of your course here. However, if you are considering continuing to work as a qualified Divemaster, it is highly recommended that once you reach this stage, or even before, that you purchase your own equipment, and our team here can assist in recommending the exact equipment to meet your needs, whether a lightweight BCD and Regulator, perfect for travel, or something basic and cheap.

All course materials and certification fees are covered, apart from the final application to PADI to receive your official professional registration. This is approximately AU$300 and includes the Divemaster registration and the approved Discover Scuba Diver registration.

At any time during your internship with us you are welcome, and encouraged, to join and simply go diving. However, we do request that you have some very basic pieces of safety equipment, namely;

  • A Surface Marker Buoy (approx. 400 THB) - to indicate to other boats where you are
  • A Dive Computer (approx. 9,000 THB) – to track your dive time and stay within the safe diving limits.

Due to the number of materials that is involved in this internship, we highly reccomend bringing a tablet or laptop that most of the materials can be kept on. Even if you prefer reading paper books, we have a large PADI Materials library which you are welcome to use, and your version of the course materials can be kept digitally.
